Sgt. Jiggs – US Marines Bulldog Mascot with Lt. General Lewis “Chesty” Puller c.1925. Sgt. Jiggs was later named Smedley, after the revered Major General Smedley Butler. In the 1950’s, the bulldog mascot was then named “Chesty” in honor of Chesty Puller, and remains to this day. We love this image for the irony of Chesty posing with the mascot that would later be named after him.
